Step by step

Before you start. Round 2028 is the next round of Medicare's DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program, which sets what Medicare pays for the items in it by auction rather than by fee schedule.

  1. Suppliers bid, and CMS awards a limited number of contracts in each product category.
  2. Each category has one Lead item, the one code suppliers bid on. Every other code in the category is priced from the lead item's single payment amount.
  3. Inside the program, the single payment amount (SPA) replaces the fee schedule. Round 2028 sets it at the 75th percentile of the winning bids for the lead item.
  4. In the app, open Rate Watch and click Round 2028. Key dates lists each milestone, from the final rule to when single payment amounts take effect.
  5. Pending bills lists the bills that could change the program, each with its status.
  6. Under Round 2028 brief, click Read the full brief for the categories, the timeline and what the feed watches. The brief describes a CMS program and is not bidding advice.

What you see. The Round 2028 feed on the same tab, free on every plan, collects items from the Federal Register, the CMS program page, trade press and the pending bills.

Tip. The month beside Key dates says how current the dates are, and a milestone CMS has not dated reads Not yet announced.
