Step by step
Before you start. Each rate on Rate Watch is set against the Medicare DMEPOS fee for the same code in the same state, from the latest quarter loaded.
- vs Med is the payer's median divided by the Medicare fee, minus one, shown as a percent to one decimal.
- The band follows that printed figure. Below Medicare is any figure under 0.0%, even a tenth of a percent under.
- Within 3% covers a figure from 0.0% up to 2.9%.
- +3% to +10% covers 3.0% up to 9.9%. +10% or more covers 10.0% and above.
- On National, the Medicare figure is the median of the 50 state and DC fees, and the footer says Medicare, median of state fees.
- A dash, or No Medicare fee on file, means there is no Medicare fee for that code there, so there is nothing to compare.
- A few codes compare with a rental, purchase or modifier fee, and a short note says which.
What you see. Open vs Medicare above the table and choose a band to keep only those rows. The Below Medicare tile counts the rows under the fee.
Tip. On a code page, the vs Medicare figure compares the market median, or one payer's median, with the fee.
